The mission of the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival is to enrich our community with high quality performing arts and arts education. Education efforts are focused on making experiences available to our K-12 students that enhance their appreciation for and understanding of the performing and visual arts. The goal of these efforts is to help all students reach their full potential. To achieve this goal the following educational activities, which correlate with and enhance the school curriculum, have been planned for 2010:

The Education Principals Lynn H. Bell: Master's of Human Development; Garrett County Board of Education-Director of Secondary Education and former Southern Garrett High School Principal; Saint Mary's County Public Schools-Assistant Principal, Science Resource Teacher, and Biology teacher. Mary Mateer Callis:
Present Board Chair for Garrett Lakes Arts Festival; for ten years was an associate at My Bank! First United Bank and Trust in the Retail and Insurance Division, and in Recruitment
Recruiting Officer; past Director of Christian Education; Home-School parent. Madeleine Collins: Past President of the Garrett County Board of Education: Member of the Garrett County School's Fine Arts Panel; Past member of the public library board; Multimedia artist. Duane R. Salisbury: Master's of Secondary Education in Music; Director of Bands at Northern Garrett High School and former Assistant Band Director at Southern Garrett; previously taught on the Elementary and Middle School levels at Yough Glades Elementary, Kitzmiller Elementary and Swan Meadow School. Moe Turrentine: Past Board Chair for Garrett Lakes Arts Festival; current Executive Director of the Virginia Music Educators Association; retired Supervisor of Fine Arts - Fairfax, VA School System; Board member, Garrett County Performing Arts Center.
