Garrett Lakes Arts Festival - Deep Creek Lake, Maryland

The mission of the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival is to enrich our community with high quality performing arts and arts education. Education efforts are focused on making experiences available to our K-12 students that enhance their appreciation for and understanding of the performing and visual arts. The goal of these efforts is to help all students reach their full potential. To achieve this goal the following educational activities, which correlate with and enhance the school curriculum, have been planned for 2011:

April 7 & 8, 2011
IONA, a Celtic music and dance ensemble will give 4 daytime performances at Garrett College for all Garrett County 4th & 5th graders. As part of their program, they will be highlighting the influences and similarities between their traditions and Appalachian music and dance.

May 20, 2011
Charlotte Blake Alston, nationally renowned storyteller/musician, will perform for all Garrett County 7 & 8th grade students at their respective middle schools.
