Garrett County's Best . . . The Ultimate Teen Talent Show
Friday, March 14, 2008 at 8:00 p.m.
Garrett College Auditorium

The season opener is the fourth annual Garrett County's Best . . . The Ultimate Teen Talent Show. It will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. at the Garrett College Auditorium. Students from Garrett County compete to win the distinction of "Garrett County's Top Teen Talent." Cash prizes awarded. By audition only. Auditions held February 29, 2008, at Garrett College. Dress rehearsal will be Thursday, March 13.
Application fee: $5.

International Ballet Theater
Friday, April 4 (during school hours)
Garrett College Auditorium


International Ballet Theater is a professional ballet company deeply rooted in the Russian ballet tradition performing classical repertoire with original choreography and staging. They, 12 to 16 dancers, will perform excerpts from “Sleeping Beauty” (the wedding, jewels, etc.), “Riding Hood”, “Carmen” and a Blue Bird pas de deux.

In cooperation with the Garrett County Schools, all 4th grade students will be bussed to Garrett College for a daytime performance of the International Ballet Theater.

Morgan State University Choir
Friday, May 23 (during school hours)
Garrett College Auditorium

The Morgan State University Choir, led by Dr. Eric Conway, is one of the nation's most prestigious university choral ensembles.

In cooperation with the Garrett County Schools, high school choral students will be bussed to Garrett College for an afternoon performance of the Morgan State University Choir.


(The public performance will be held Friday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m., in the Garrett College Auditorium.)






SUMMER PROGRAMS

Voice Clinic
Monday, June 16 – Friday, June 20, 2008

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location: St. Paul's Methodist Church, Oakland.

Instructor, Bridgid Eversole.

Registration: $100 middle and high school students. Applications due Friday, May 30, 2008. Minimum enrollment necessary. No refunds after Friday, May 30, 2008.

Young Artists’ Workshop
Monday, July 7 – Friday, July 11, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Garrett College

If you love to draw and are interested in painting, this summer workshop is the place for you! Enter the worlds of still-life, portraiture and life drawing. Instructors, Mark and Laura Stutzman, will help you refine your skills and build your confidence in visual expression. For students entering 8th grade through graduating seniors.

Registration: $100 middle and high school students (includes cost of supplies). Applications due Friday, May 30, 2008. Minimum enrollment necessary. No refunds after Monday, June 30, 2008.

Dance Arts Camp of Maryland
Sunday, July 13– Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Garrett College under the administration of Mary Underwood and Sarah Strain.

Beginner to Low-Intermediate dance students (ages 6-18) are encouraged to attend the day camp July 14-17, 2008, which is designed for the elementary dancer or one with minimal years of consistent formal training. Daily technique classes for the beginners will feature Ballet, Jazz and Tap. Students will attend classes July 14-16, 9am-noon and July 17th, 1p.m.-4:00pm. The students will participate in the dance showcase on Thursday, July 17. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Intermediate to Advanced dancers (ages 12-18) may choose from the commuter (day-camp) or resident camp, July 13-17, 2008. Serious dancers who are interested in intensive study will highly benefit from this program. Students will dance 6-7 hours per day in technique classes including: Ballet, Pointe (at the discretion of the camp instructors) Modern, Jazz and Tap. Choreography sessions include daily technique disciplines as well as Musical Theatre and/or Lyrical dance. Extra-curricular activities for the resident campers, may include, Funland, Ice cream social, movies and swimming at the state park (weather permitting). The culminating activity of the week is a student showcase on Thursday, July 17. Parents are encouraged to attend.

* Int. Adv. day-campers will participate from 9 to 5:30. (Lunch will be provided.)


DANCE
Registration: Beginners day-camp only, $150; Intermediate and Advanced day-camp only, $225; Intermediate and Advanced resident campers, $550

Registrations and deposits due Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Resident campers $275 and Commuter campers $125. Balances must be paid in full by May 15, 2008.
